Current and recent ILJ research on violent crime has been focused in two main areas:
Homicide
Violence against women
The background ILJ staff bring to these projects includes
Prior research on gangs, guns, illegal drug markets, prosecution, courts, jails and prisons, and other relevant topics
Experience working directly with police and other agencies to develop new case management systems and crime analysis/geographic information system (GIS) capabilities
As part of the more than 65 ILJ police management studies, assessments of specialized police investigative and enforcement units focused on homicide and other violent crime.
Work with hundreds of police departments as a training and technical assistance contractor to the U. S. Department of Justice (e.g., Project Safe Neighborhoods, Weed and Seed)
Experience providing direct services to crime victims and witnesses.
