Narcotics Control Technical Assistance Program
Under contract to the Bureau of Justice Assistance, ILJ developed the
Narcotics Control Technical Assistance program and provided training and
technical assistance services to state and local law enforcement agencies.
During the period of this grant, from 1988 to 1991, ILJ trained over 8,000
officers in more than 35 states. NCTAP courses included:
- Drug Investigation for Patrol Officers.
A two-day course on the basic skills needed to recognize and investigate
street-level drug sales.
- Basic Drug Investigators Course. A
five-day course on basic skills for investigating drug trafficking.
- Narcotics Street Sales Enforcement. A
five-day course for narcotics supervisors and investigators that provides the
hands-on operational experience needed to implement a street sales enforcement
program.
- Supervision/Management of Drug Investigations.
A three-day course for supervisors on how to effectively organize and manage a
drug investigation unit.
- Using Microcomputers in Narcotics Investigations.
A three-day course that includes hands-on training in hardware and software.
