COPS funding for innovative programs relating to sheriffs and community policing have helped to set up key sheriffs' programs such as a centralized database known as the Gang Incident Tracking System (GITS) in California. Additionally, sheriff's deputies have delivered hundreds of Neighborhood Watch presentations to approximately 4,900 individuals, and interacted with civic groups, parents, and children. Neighborhood Watch meetings currently involve presidents, secretaries, and council members of more than 200 civic associations.
