Management Information Systems for Fire Departments

Under subcontract for the U. S. Fire Administration, ILJ developed management information systems on microcomputers for local fire departments. Systems were developed for fire incidents, emergency medical services, and fire prevention. Participating fire departments included Arlington County, Virginia; Prince William County, Virginia; and Southfield, Michigan. User manuals and system documentation manuals were developed for all systems. ILJ conducted two-day training programs for over 50 persons who received the Micro NFIRS package. Introduction to DOS, use of the input program (INFIRS), file development and maintenance, and creation of output reports were covered in the training.
