ILJ staff, in conjunction with the University City Science Center, conducted an evaluation of the Free Venture Model (FVM) prison industries. The productivity of the FVM prison shop was assessed and compared to free world practices. In addition, ILJ analyzed the output, sales, and value production of the prison shop and evaluated the financial recordkeeping system and marketing practices of the FVM industries. In connection with this study, Mr. Miller, together with Gail S. Funke and B. L. Wayson, published Assets and Liabilities of Correctional Industries (LexingtonBooks, D.C. Heath and Company, 1982).
