Communities, Crime, and Justice

This conference reflected ongoing collaborative efforts in communities around the country. Practical ways of linking effective community justice and restorative justice programs were covered. A very broad range of more than 300 participants engaged in productive exchange to further the aim of connecting necessary elements for new community justice models and highlighting the successes and problems of those in existence. To make a difference in areas such as youth violence, gangs, guns, and family violence, partnerships between criminal justice system elements and business, social services, education, housing, and religious organizations must be set up, neighborhood by neighborhood, and given the means for action.
