This was a two-year, nationwide study for the National Institute of Justice to examine the costs of processing offenders through the criminal justice system. The purpose was to provide local and state governments with information about the time, effort, and costs involved in processing various types of offenders. The project included developing a computer model for offender processing cost analysis, and a handbook for practitioners.
