Evaluation of Inmate Jobs

The Tennessee Department of Correction contracted with ILJ staff to conduct an evaluation of the inmate Job Tracking System, Agri-Industries management, inmate jobs, and the market potential for industries. The project included an audit of inmate jobs in seven Tennessee facilities. Recommendations addressed areas of expansion in industries, new jobs that may be created, as well as those that should be discontinued, and other areas that would provide for expanded inmate employment in the Tennessee system. The company assumed the lead role in preparing and coordinating a joint set of consultant recommendations, which covered security, classification, education, and environment. ILJ provided technical assistance to the Tennessee Department of Correction for implementation of the study recommendations.
