On May 21-24, 2000, practitioners, researchers, and other professionals in law enforcement and the justice field met in Baltimore, MD, to consider the roles of partnership and technology for advancing community oriented policing.  Approximately 500 police practitioners, researchers, criminal justice professionals, community organizers, and policymakers from around the United States shared insights and strategies for meeting the long-term challenges of community and problem oriented policing.

The conference included over 25 plenary sessions, panels, and training workshops. Maryland Lt. Governor Kathleen Kennedy Townsend and more than 50 leaders and scholars in the field presented topics and facilitated a rich exchange among the participants.
